How is the programme at the Priority Medical Clinic any different than any other addiction programme?
The Priority Medical Clinic is unique in that it is first non-hospital medically led addiction treatment programme in this country. The treatment is delivered by experts in their chosen field in an empathic and non-judgemental manner and using only evidence based approaches are used.
Does the treatment extend to other addictions such as gambling and other non substance addictions?
Whilst the clinic specialises in alcohol and drug addiction it also has the expertise to deal with these addictions as the principals of treatment for non substance addiction are very similar to chemical addiction.
I am particularly concerned about confidentiality and privacy. Can this be guaranteed?
Confidentiality and privacy are completely assured at the clinic. Privacy is a slightly separate issue and patients are often concerned that they may be identified walking into the clinic or by other patients in the waiting room. Dr McGovern takes these concerns very seriously as he realises that they are a major reason why addicted individuals fail to seek formal help. He has some simple ways of dealing with this sensitive issue which he discusses with his patients at assessment.
How much does the programme cost?
The price of the programme varies between the different programmes and D r McGovern would be delighted to meet you to discuss the issue of cost.
Are any of the treatments covered by health insurance?
Not at the present time although submissions have been made to the major insurance companies and it is hoped that the programme will be covered by health insurance in the foreseeable future.
Will this programme cure my addiction?
Like many other chronic relapsing, remitting conditions there is no known cure for addiction. Relapse is the rule. Our treatment programme, however, is designed to give individuals the opportunity to deal with their problems in a caring and empathic environment.
I have had bad experiences in treatment in the past and have often felt patronised by staff at clinics I have attended. Can you guarantee this will not happen at the Priority Medical Clinic?
You have an absolute guarantee that you will be treated with the utmost respect and care by our staff. Punitive, austere treatment approaches are anathema to Dr McGovern's philosophy.
